Opinion: Plastic bags pose no threat to anyone
The Cincinnati Enquirer recently published an opinion piece on the City Council’s consideration of a plastic bag ban. The author states that such bans “do nothing to ‘help the environment’ or ‘protect the planet.'” They also make it harder for individuals without cars to carry groceries from neighborhood markets to their homes.
In addition, alternatives to plastic bags have much bigger carbon footprint and are greater risks to public health (reusable bags are rarely cleaned).
